For parents and guardians

Last updated 18 October 2026. This explains, for the parent or guardian of someone aged 13 to 17, what Cut Buddy collects from them and what it does with it. The full privacy policy applies too.

In short

What we collect from your teenager

Age, sex, height, weight, goals, diet and allergies, training schedule, the food, water and weigh-ins they log, yes/no health answers, and their conversations with Buddy, the app's assistant. Conversations are deleted after 90 days. Children under 13 can't sign up.

What a coach can see

Only if your teenager joins a team and you approve: their weight trend as a 7-day average against their class, how closely they follow their meal plan, and a warning if they're losing weight too fast or not eating enough, each only if your teenager leaves it on. Never their health answers, their conversations with Buddy, or a daily weight. They can turn any of it off, or leave the team, at any time.

The AI

Buddy's replies are written by an AI model from Anthropic. Before anything is sent to it, we remove your teenager's name, email, phone number and the names of any medications. Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models. Every number Buddy gives comes from the app's own calculations, not the AI.

Your choices

Cut Buddy gives general nutrition information, not medical advice. If you're worried about your teenager's eating or weight, talk to their doctor, athletic trainer or a registered dietitian. In the US:
